Simplify this complex formula I've come up with for sorting mixed format time.

This formula now seems to get the desired time format I was looking for, however it does not help me sort these mixed times into order (quickest to slowest), so perhaps I still need a 'seconds' column using Pete's formula to allow this? Also, using Pete's formula, for all the times in mm:ss.0 format (>1min), I now seem to be getting a small gap between the start of the cell and the time. I don't get this with my initial long formula and I really don't want this gap if possible as these times will end up in col A of a professional business report and it would make the left edge look very messy.
