I have a form that I need to replicate and it's in PDF format so I would like to be able to put a pdf (or convert it) as a background to align my cells on it.
I tried converting it to PNG using a web tool but it doesn't keep proportions.

Maybe first print the PDF as JPEG. Then under Page Layout ribbon > Click background, from there you can insert the PDF you just converted to JPEG as background.

I will try that and post my findings. The important part is to keep proportions for me to be able to replicate the form almost perfectly.
It does insert the background like it did with my PNG the only problem is it's not respecting proportions at all.. The original PDF is a 8x14 legal document and the background is MUCH bigger than 8x14 for sure.
Thanks for the input JieJennAnyone has another idea?
When you convert the PDF to JPEG, did you configure to set the image to match 100% to PDF size so all the formatting stay uniform? I just tested, and I don't see any shrinkage.
What are you using as a converter ? I see no such options in http://pdf2jpg.net/
Oh that might be why because you are using online tool which doesn't give you the option. I am using Adobe Acrobat Pro.
I guess the 2nd option be take a screenshot of the PDF file and pasted to Excel file.
I have a licence of Acrobat Pro at work I will try it there and report![]()
I am at work right now and I am messing around with the conversion in Acrobat Pro and I can't seem to find the right option to set to 100% matchingcould you provide a screenshot please ?

Can you send me your pdf file to [email protected]?
Just did a second ago thanks![]()
I am still trying to place the PDF in background. So far even when I convert the PDF to JPEG with the help of JieJenn it still isn't right because the image doesn't keep proportions. Unless it's a PDF shenanigans.
Basically when you print the PDF it's in 8x14 (Legal) and when you place the jpeg as a background and select 8x14 as layout it's about 25% larger. But since I am trying to align my form to the existing one it's not doing the trick.
I will attach the PDF in question if you guys can make it fit 8x14 and keeping the proportions I would be very grateful. JieJenn is busy at the moment.
Hi,
I don't have Adobe Acrobat, so I had to use a 3rd party software (executable on my computer) to create the .jpg file. The .jpg file looks similar to .pdf file to my untrained eye, inside and outside of Excel, with the following noticeable differences:
a. the lines in the .jpg file are not as sharp as the lines in the .pdf file
b. the color in the box on the upper right does not transfer to the .jpg file very well
In addition, I don't know what you're looking for. The attached zip file contains:
a. Your original .pdf file
b. My .jpg file created from your original.pdf file
c. My .xls file with the .jpg file embedded
I've reached the limit of my technical ability on this topic. I hope what I have done is helpful to you.
Lewis
Thank you very much again LewisI think that will do the trick :D
