Vlookup gives REF! when I update by dataset

    Hi,
I have 2 tabs in excel sheet.
Tab1 - columns having name, date of birth, date of death
Tab2 - columns having name, age (used Vlookup to get both)

When I update the data in Tab1 with a list of new name, DOB, DOD - tab2 does not get updated on its own. Can anyone tell me the reason?

    Thanks,
    Mavericky

Are the ranges you use Dynamic Named Ranges, or just Named Ranges, or just ranges?

is the sheet set to manual recalculation?

    Check: Fomulas/calculations/calculation options.

@TMS - Dynamic range is used

@Glenn - It is set to automatic but still vlookup data does not refresh on its own.

Attach a sample workbook. Make sure there is just enough data to demonstrate your need. Include a BEFORE sheet and an AFTER sheet in the workbook if needed to show the process you're trying to complete or automate. Make sure your desired results are shown, mock them up manually if necessary.

    Remember to desensitize the data.

Click on GO ADVANCED and use the paperclip icon to open the upload window.

If you copy and paste CELLS over the original data, you destroy the original cell references. You would need to copy and paste special | values.

I will delete the data first and then copy paste special. Will that be fine? Or shall I overwrite existing data?

You're welcome. Thanks for the rep.

If there is more data in the new file, you can just overwrite. But, if there's less ... Probably safest to delete the data (but not rows/columns/cells) first.
