    Excel solution for access control.

    Hi there,

I have the below data extracted from a building access control system. this shows when an employee enters or leaves the building. for fire safety, i need to create a spreadsheet which will tell me the current status of each employee. I need the spreadsheet to allow me to paste the data into it and i was hoping to be able to press a button to run a formula/macro to give me a list which shows the current status of each employee only.

    Any help is appreciated.
Thanks for taking time to read this.
    Kind regards.

Re: Excel solution for access control.

    Here, try this:
    On sheet one enter data
On sheet 2 is result (yellow cells, extend down as needed)

if doesn't work provide some example on your own.

Re: Excel solution for access control.

Thank you so much for this, this is basically the outcome i was looking for. However, the data i have is as per the attached.

the date and time are in one cell and the employee names are in the order of date and time. So im assuming the first step would be to have a formula to split the date and time then to put the data in order by employee then order by date and time and then finally the output to be the most recent transaction.
Please see attached. This is the raw data.

Re: Excel solution for access control.

    No need for spliting.
I just copy paste your data from post #1 and there is not clear that date and time is in same cell.

    Here, try this solution.
With this approach is not needed that dates/times are in order. - it will return latest time no matter where it is.
