How to: Miles per hour calculations

I'm creating a spreadsheet for a thru-hike I did. I'm trying to insert a formula to determine the miles per hour I hiked during each day. The time will be expressed in hours:minutes (HH:MM; in column 'L') and the distance in miles (in column 'D'). I'm sure it is an easy solution but it is stumping me. What formula would work?

=(Distance/Time)/24

=(D1/L1)/24

Although not the originator of the question, I too was looking for an answer to a similar question to calculate speed while triathlon training. Thanks for the help. Now I have to figure out how to go faster.
