Import a table from the web.

I am trying to import a table from the web into EXCEL. I understand how to use the import from Web function in EXCEL V 2010. However, I can't seem to locate a web-site for my desired data that shows the yellow arrow button for that table. It only gives me a button for the entire screen. Is this due to the way the table is embedded or coded?

Most likely. Excel knows about <table> tags but I don't think it has kept up with more modern developments in HTML coding. Have you done a "view page source" to see what it looks like? If you provide a URL we could take a look and say something more definite.

Jeff here is the URL.. I am wanting the big table at the bottom that contains the Season Schedule. I am not code savy so I do not even know what I'd be looking for in the source I can copy and paste.. but I'd like it to refresh every day if possible.

The data you want is coded as a plain vanilla <table>. I don't know why Excel won't recognize it. An alternative would be to code it in VBA. I have a clue as to how to do that but have never done it so I can't offer a solution.

Just for reference, here is the table header and first row:

OK, here's a workaround. I did a web query on the entire page and then created a new worksheet to reference just that table. It works nicely in this case because the size of the table doesn't change. There is a Refresh button to refresh the web query. The actual query is on a hidden sheet.

Thanks Jeff! Let me get a chance to play around with it! And I will close the issue! Thanks!
