Table that includes a comparison

Hi All,

I would like to make a table that includes a comparison between the 3 mobile operator tariff.

In terms of the following:

Description, type of the price plan (STGT, Multiple or based location price plan), if it is a based location tariff what are the governorates in which the customer can use the price plan, the price of the minute within the governorates and outside it, types of the credit( on-net, or off-net credit) What is the name of the similar price plan for the competitors.

Data:

Operator 1: Plan 1
Gives the customer free minutes. Type of it is STGT. It is a based location tariff within Cairo and Giza. The minutes rate inside the zone is 1 pound, outside the zone is 2 pounds. The credit is for off and on- net. The name of the similar price plan for the competitor is Plan2.

Operator 2: Plan 2
Gives the customer free minutes. Type of it is Multiple. It is a based location tariff within Suez and Manya. The minutes rate inside the zone is 2 pound, outside the zone is 3 pounds. The credit is for off and on- net. The name of the similar price plan for the competitor is Plan1.

Operator 3: Plan 3
Gives the customer free minutes. Type of it is a based location tariff. It is a based location tariff within Cairo and Giza. The minutes rate inside the zone is 1 pound, outside the zone is 2 pounds. The credit is for on- net only. The name of the similar price plan for the competitor is Prefect Tariff.

If I understand this, you have 3 price plans for calls in 4 different areas and there are different options dependent upon the local.

This is how I understand your description.

To best describe or illustrate your problem you would be better off attaching a dummy workbook. The workbook should contain the same structure and some dummy data of the same type as the type you have in your real workbook - so, if a cell contains numbers & letters in this format abc-123 then that should be reflected in the dummy workbook.

To attach a file to your post,
click advanced (next to quick post),
scroll down until you see "manage file",
click that and select "add files" (top right corner).
click "select files" find your file, click "open" click "upload" click 'done" bottom right. click "submit reply"

Once the upload is completed the file name will appear below the input boxes in this window.
You can then close the window to return to the new post screen.
1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)
2. If your question is resolved, mark it SOLVED using the thread tools
3. Click on the star if you think someone helped you

Comparison Table - Idea.xlsx

Thank you so much. The attached file includes more details about what I wanted to do.

Do you think that it can be done through a drop down list or can it be in just one table?

Personally, I think that you might be further ahead by selecting all the data (once you have the complete table) then use on the Data tab the FILTER. That way you can pull all rows that apply to a plan, or region etc.

If I understand this, a drop down list is possible but I have reservations about using one for this as you would be seeing a very limited set of your data. Having a one table would allow you to either use a filter to get the records you want or you can see the overall picture at a glance.

I forgot to ask how the worksheet is to be used. The use for which it is intended will have a bearing on how the data should be laid out. You don't want it so complicated that it is not readily understood. Nor do you want it so simple that all the pertinent data isn't readily seen.

I need to use the worksheet for a presentation to let the management team know our position in comparison to our competitors. I convinced by what you have mentioned that using the drop down list menu will not work out in this case. Appreciate it if you help me out making the table that I uploaded more professional than it is .

Re: Table that includes a comparison

I am not a designer of presentation material. I did however learn that if you present too much information at a time, it is lost on the target audience.

I assume that this will be a standard presentation type where you will be explaining different points while showing your visual material. The visual material should only be there to give a visual picture of what you are saying. If the visual material is too complicated, the audience will be trying to figure out the visuals and probably not even hear you.

You have your data broken down into 3 parts. I would present each part separately.

You evidently are wanting to make a comparison with your competitor. You show what the competitor calls their plan but not how they compare.

As I said before, I am not a presentation designer but here are a few ideas for you to play around with. I prefer the second idea but, that is just me. You may or may not want to use colour. If you use colour, use what you consider a favourable colour for your company and a toned down one for the competitor. You might want to use a font format to show where you have the competition beat and another to show where they might have an advantage.

Good luck.
