I would like to make a tutorial video of an Excel sheet, specifically, a database query. I could capture screen images one at a time for a PowerPoint presentation on YouTube. However, rather than capturing still photos, is there a way to capture my moves within Excel as I am executing them? Will PowerPoint then handle the resulting "video?"

I think you need a program that captures video feed. Google?
Sounds like screencasting is what you are looking for.
Try CamStudio or take a look at alternatives at http://alternativeto.net/software/camstudio/.
