Could anyone help me to recover my data which I working half way and the excel 2003 application hung/not responding. So, I have to end task to quite the file.
Is there any way to recover the data back? Because it is very important to me!

Pretty unlikely if you're using Excel 2003. Excel 2007 and above can usually recover the file to a certain extent, depending on the last autosave or manual save of the file.

In Excel 2010, click on FILE, INFO, MANAGE VERSIONS, RECOVER UNSAVED WORKBOOKS.
This goes to the AppData\Local\Microsoft\Office\UnsavedFiles folder. This is a hidden folder under your username.
Any files in this folder can be opened by the program that created them and they appear to be formed with the Autosave (just opinion here).

How to Recover a File in Excel
1. Open Microsoft Excel.
2. Locate the file in the "Document Recovery task pane." The "Document Recovery task pane" automatically appears on the left side of Microsoft Excel if you have any AutoRecover files available to open. The files are listed in this pane, and will use the name of whatever you named the original spreadsheet.
3. Click "Open" to open the file or "Save As" to save the file. Opening the file will open the spreadsheet from when the last AutoRecover save occurred. You can now continue working with the spreadsheet. Save As will save the file in the regular *.xls format, so you can open the file at another time.

It's awful, but don't worry, Excel provides several ways to recover: automatic recovery, recent save, and restore of the old version. This is the procedure for restoring the old version:Originally Posted by demepanagos
