Is there any way to format a cell, by borders or colors so that they don't print? I want to mark some cells to identify them as having data validation drop down menus but I don't want the formatting to print.

Make the font the same color as the fill.

It's common practice to put Data Validation drop down lists on a separate reference sheet. Put a heading in the top row with the data immediately below it, no spaces above or in the list, and you can create a Dynamic Named Range to refer to the list.
No problems printing.
Or, easy way out, set the Print Area to exclude the DV lists

@shg: wouldn't the "blank" cell still be included in the default Print Area?
Thank you, I will modify my print area.
You're welcome. Thanks for the rep.![]()
