    Populating cells through a word

I am trying to create a wage calculator for my father. all i want him to have to do is input a word into the sheet which will calculate the hours of that shift multiplied by the hourly rate. For example 'AD' would equal '8.82*12'. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello, and welcome to the forum..

Please take a moment to read the forum rules and change your thread title.

You probably need to set up a small table on a reference sheet listing each of the shifts, the hours and the rates. You can then use VLOOKUP to locate the shift code and return the hours and rate and multiply them together.

    For example:

I have attached the sheet so you could possibly show me an example or two and i can then populate the rest? Also I was wondering how to populate the other rows.

Your post does not comply with Rule 1 of our Forum RULES. Your post title should accurately and concisely describe your problem, not your anticipated solution.

Use terms appropriate to a Google search. Poor thread titles, like Please Help, Urgent, Need Help, Formula Problem, Code Problem, and Need Advice will be addressed according to the OP's experience in the forum: If you have less than 10 posts, expect (and respond to) a request to change your thread title. If you have 10 or more posts, expect your post to be locked, so you can start a new thread with an appropriate title.

To change a Title go to your first post, click EDIT then Go Advanced and change your title, if 2 days have passed ask a moderator to do it for you.

Well, I did warn you Just be careful displaying what could, to some, be seen as "bad attitude". The Moderators have a tough job trying to make sure that the forum is a useful resource for everyone. And, one of the things that make it useful is to have meaningful/searchable thread titles.

And, when it comes down to it, they (as we all do) volunteer their time at no cost to help people get answers to their questions.
