    Track changes across several sheets??

Good evening all (evening here anyway),

I am having issues with a file regarding the track changes function.

I am working with a relatively hefty file with half a dozen sheets and I want to be able to take hard coded data cuts and create a change tracker to show the differences between the 2.

I have a macro that can give me the info I need but it is based on the "HISTORY" tab that is generated by the track changes function when the workbook is in "shared" mode.

Normally you can't run macros while the workbook is in this state but i assigned it to a shape and it has run okay so far in all testing.

My issue is that the track change function in excel only seems to be showing changes in one sheet of my workbook so say I pasted new values in for 6 different sheets, the track change "HISTORY" tab is only accounting for the changes on one sheet instead of all.

Does anyone know what may be causing this and how I can make the change track functionality include all of my changes or even if there is a better way to approach this entirely!?!?!?

Your help is much appreciated as always!

You'll have to research this one further, but in searching the net on this very issue I came across some very interesting articles regarding reserved words and how the name of sheets among other things can produce strange side-effects. One of the very names cited was.....believe it or not.......HISTORY. I wish I could remember the web site, but I can't. Do a search, though. You'll find it.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks FlameRetired,

It's a bit confusing as the sheet that generates with the name "HISTORY" is generated by excel itself but i'll certainly take a look to see if any of my other sheet names may be causing this.

I think I may just have to save the workbook and update the tracked changes each time I insert new data into a sheet. It isn't ideal but may provide a workaround until I can find a better solution!

OK. I've slept on it. This web-site is where I was first alerted to the issue. The note mentions Excel 2007. Which other versions are affected are unknown to me. I kind of followed my nose from there.
