    Merged Cells Lose Format

    Hi everyone,

Now I am having a simple problem where I am trying to merge two cells into one. I am putting this into C1 to get my result

    A1 B1
    00:00:29:13 | 0044.05 | =A1&" "&B1

(I get the value of B1 to stay like that by custom format : 0000.00)

The value of C1 I get is as follows: 00:00:29:13 44.05

This is right - but I want it to be 00:00:29:13 0045.05 (I want the two 0's before 45 to remain in C1 as they are in B1)

Now I have already solved this - I know I have because I have an entire word document where a table has the values just as I want them - however I cannot remember what I did.

I have tried doing custom formatting to 00:00:00:00 0000.00 but Excel just says it can't do that.

So why isn't Excel retaining the 0000.00 format I have given to B1. If I simply type =B1 into C1 then I do get 0045.05, so it seems when two separate cells are put into one, then I lose my 0000.00 formatting.

    What can I do?

Your post does not comply with Rule 1 of our Forum RULES. Your post title should accurately and concisely describe your problem, not your anticipated solution.

Poor thread titles, like Please Help, Urgent, Need Help, Formula Problem, Code Problem, and Need Advice will be addressed according to the OP's experience in the forum: If you have less than 10 posts, expect (and respond to) a request to change your thread title. If you have 10 or more posts, expect your post to be locked, so you can start a new thread with an appropriate title.

To change a Title go to your first post, click EDIT then Go Advanced and change your title, if 2 days have passed ask a moderator to do it for you.
