    RANK function question

In the attached, there are 500 names in order of ranking(column A) from 1 to 500
I would like to assign each name a rating from 2700 to 1500 (column L) based on its ranking(column A)
That means, for example the highest ranked (pos. 1) will have ~2700 rating, and the lowest ranked (pos 500) will have ~1500 rating.
I've made a rough example in column C.
    Thanks for any help.

    Re: RANK function question

This solves the problem without using tables.

This subtracts the bottom value from the top value and divides by the number of "divisions" - 1 because the first one isn't divided and is multiplied by the rank as determined by the starting row being 0.
