Sorry newdoverman, not sure I follow you. It seems that excel is applying some sort of formatting that makes my data more difficult to read, so the only formatting I'm trying to do is to make the data look as orderly as possible for my own sake, not necessarily trying to make it look fancy and presentable.

Maybe I'll try your macro idea. It does seem like there should be some straightforward way to tell excel to keep the formatting consistent with the addition of new rows, though, don't you think?
