I have to go now. But this VERY clumsy formula works. Much easier if your imported data had been an 8 digit date...

    Formula: copy to clipboard

Someone else will give you a short (much shorter) formula. My head's not working today!!

So in the first example, you are trying to convert 12-Jan-2012 to 1-Dec 2012?

Why not post an (small) excel file without confidential information.

Please also add the desired (expected) result in your file.

    Hi,

Please try the following formula in D1 & drag down (file attached):

    =DATE(MID(A2,SEARCH(" ",A2,1)-4,4),LEFT(A2,SEARCH("/",A2,1)-1),MID(A2,SEARCH("/",A2,1)+1,SEARCH("/",A2,SEARCH("/",A2,1)+1)-SEARCH("/",A2,1)-1))

Re: conversion of date format from mm/dd/yyyy hh:mm:ss to dd/mm/yyyy

    Hi,

I have a similar issue to Javed but I wish to convert the date format to dd/mm/yyyy hh:mm

I tried using the different formulas above but end up with either #VALUEor #NUM! errors

Unfortunately I don't understand the formula enough to play with it.

I am new user so hopefully I managed to attach the file correctly.

Appreciate any help as I am trying to plot data in 5minute intervals since 1 January!

    Cheers
    Tony
