Before re-installing, go to the Control Panel, Programs and Features (wherever that is in Windows 8) and where you would uninstall, choose CHANGE then choose REPAIR. That could fix the problem without hassle. If it doesn't work, then you can always uninstall and reinstall.
You might have to use something like Revo Uninstaller to get a complete uninstall.
