I use MS Query extensively to extract data from MS Access and also from other Excel spreadsheets using criteria. For example, I have a large parts list spreadsheet exported from our ERP system with Inventory Organizations. I have a second spreadsheet that has several tabs, each of which queries the parts list restricting the results to a specific Inventory Org.
My company recently upgraded to Excel 2010. Since then, anytime I run a MS Query from within a spreadsheet, it opens the source spreadsheet. This never happened before the 2010 upgrade. If the query draws from several sources, all of them are opened. This is a time sink since I then have to close them all. Also, some of my spreadsheets are shared, and my internal customers should not be seeing the source data, just the results.
I've examined my queries in MS Query and don't see anything that specifies opening, or not opening, the source.
I don't know if it's specific to MS Query or if there is an option in Excel that needs to be checked (or unchecked).
I would greatly appreciate any help resolving this issue.
Thanks,
Bernie
