    Cutting and pasting nightmares

    Hi,

After a few problems yesterday and receiving some much needed help on this forum I have another issue.

I am trying to cut and paste data from one workbook to another and I either have half the data paste or more data than I cut??

For example: I copy 71 records in column C and when I paste the data into a new workbook i end up with 92 records?

Before this i was cutting the 71 records and only having 30 of them paste.

I know this is the worst thing to say when dealing with Excel but I am after a quick and easy fix.

Hopefully someone can help and as a heads up I used to be Desktop and Server support and only usually support staff with their basic Excel needs.

I am no pro as you can no doubt tell.

    Thanks for reading,

    Chris

Maybe you are cutting from cells that are filtered...and then when you paste the unfiltered cells comes too. Maybe if you attach a sample workbook..

    Re: Cutting and pasting nightmares

Your right I have been cutting from a filtered workbook.

Is there no way of simply cutting the highlighted data and pasting it into a fresh workbook?

I would have attached an example of what I am working on but it is highly sensitive information.

This is driving me crazy now because until I have this sorted I have a team of people waiting on me for work.

    Thanks,

    Chris

Just don't 'cut' the info, copy it. Tell me if it worked.

    Same thing is happening sadly

Not sure why a simply cut or copy and paste is not working?

I made a test and works fine for me .... Unfilter your sheet...filter again...do a Control + C in your selection and Paste in another workbook...or to a Notepad file and copy from notepad and paste again in another excel sheet...try this trick...and tell me!
