custom sort change month order

Hello again, I was wondering if it is possible to do a custom sort on a column so that I can change the order the way the months are sorted.
The order I'm looking for is
October
November
December
January
February
March
April
May
June
July
August
September

I can't seem to figure it out, or if it is possible.

Also the format for the cells in that column is 01-Jan, I don't want to see the year because I enter and sort the date as if the year doesn't matter so it automatically registers as 2014, if that makes sense. Basically I want that order of the months regardless of the year.

Make your own custom list in the order section of Sort.

Similarly customise the date format by selecting format>custom>then in the Type box input dd/mm

I tried that but when I executed the sort it still sorted the months in typical order January to December.

Hi hopefull hart,

if you didn't understand the second method then here is a description...


select the range you want to sort including other columns..
click on "sort"
then select the "column" by which you wanna sort it...(in your case it is of dates)
then consider the third condition ... and click "custom list"
put you custom list their...
ie.
Oct
Nov
Dec
Jan
Feb
Mar
Apr
May
Jun
Jul
Aug
Sep

Click ok... that is it..
