How to Allow Both Picklist items and manually entered data in a cell

    Hi all,
My name is John Quinn. I'm a test engineer at P&G-Gillette in South Boston. I have been using Excel for several years and I'm fairly proficient at its basic functionality. I've recently learned and made extensive use of pivot tables. However, I have not taken advantage of such features as Data Validation, VBA, etc.
I look forward to sharing ideas in this forum. In fact, I have a data validation question which I'll post, immediately.
    Regards,
    JQ

Re: data validation - how to allow both picklist items and manually entered data in a cell

    Gurus,
How do I structure a cell via data validation to enble the user to either make a manual entry or choose from the items of a picklist. Data validation seems to allow one option ro the other, but not both for any one cell.

    Hi john

    Welcome to the Forum!!

Your question would be more appropriate in the Excel General Forum and I'm suggesting Alan move it there.

In the event that doesn't happen, in the Error Alert Tab uncheck the "Show Error Alert After Invalid Data is Entered".

    ANYTHING will be accepted...
    John
