    Large Model Question

    Hello!
I have a few excel model files of the following sizes – 200 megabytes, 320 megabytes and 650 megabytes. I have 4 sets of data to be calculated by these models and combined in a single file. They can be either recalculated 4 times for each of the data sets – their results stored in a single file and then combined in a report after the final calculation. Or – I am thinking of buying more ram for my excel 64 and open up 4 instances of the aforementioned model files for each of the data set – so that all can be calculated at once. I calculated the total size of the models in memory would be 1600 megabytes – in the last case 6500 megabytes. I have Xeon e5-1650 – not sure if the last setup would work better – please let me know. It would allow to bypass the intervening stage of storing the separate results and combining them afterwards.
Will be happy to hear what you think!

I don't see how you can call the rules useless when you don't seem to have read them.

If you had read them (in any of the forums), you would know that cross-posting is not against the rules but that you should provide the links. You would also have read an article explaining why.

The thing is with a link to other forums people tend NOT to contribute to the discussion. THAT IS NOT OBVIOUS TO YOU?
Besides that - by adding a thread I am adding a keyword saturated page to your forum that might attract sales afterwards. So why not just ALLOW the discussion to happen instead of speaking endlessly about your rules.

Now look! – NO ONE IS CONTRIBUTING HERE…

    Re: Large Model Question

I suspect that the lack of response is due more to your attitude than the cross posted links.

People answering your questions do not get paid, do not give a toss whether the site gets any additional advertising revenue and only ask that you display a modicum of decorum in order to provide you with free help.

All of which is moot however, since by posting you agreed to follow a certain set of rules; if you don't like them, then you are free to post elsewhere - no-one is forcing you to ask for help here. Feel free to pay a consultant to answer your questions and you can do what you like
