Is it Excel or am I venturing into Access

Early this morning I was creating a spreadsheet that with five headings but had to leave out one (the sixth) due to its involvement within my results that I didn't know how to add. I deal with two different types of material (as far as this spreadsheet was concerned); serialized and non-serialized. I left the serial numbers out of the table.
Material Number Bin Description Q on Hand Q in SAP
    XxXxXxXx c15 WAPZ 7 8

What I am wondering is, is there a way to add a column, maybe as simple as "Serialized" with an answer of "yes" or "no", then if the answer is "yes", there could be a drop down on a specific column (within the row in question) if "yes" is the answer then it would list my serial numbers. In the example table, I would want the drop down on the cell "Q in SAP" that would list all eight serial numbers (even though I only have seven on hand). Does that make sense?

Sounds like it is possible in both Excell and Access. Some programming will be necessery in either case, as you want to dig in SAP. So choose whichever is more convenient or where you feel more competent.

So what you are saying without actually saying is... There is no specific argument to satisfy in order to allow input into a hidden field (drop down) from the cell as shown in the example?

Well, this is what I feel without really seeing your data or even it's structure and without knowledge of tons of other constraians etc.
Both E. and A. can do is my answer to (in my eyes) quite vague question.

Depending on the volume of data you're going to throw at it, you could go either way. The more data, and the more often you'll use it, than I'd tend towards Access. Especially since data tends to evolve upwards in volume.

Re: Is it Excel or am I venturing into Access

I guess my biggest problem here is not understanding "OUR" version of SAP. I am pretty certain there is a way just to consolidate the small amount of information that I need to study by just using a specific T-code, but I work for one of those companies that A.) show you what you need to know in order to do your part (God forbid you know more than the person teaching you) and B.) has a SAP dictionary that was written by a team that didn't include any input from specific departments that may use SAP more than others, hence what I or most of my collegues might think up to describe a certain procedure is not what the "team" of experts used (making it impossible to isolate specific data).

More than likely this issue is one for Access since I want to relate specific Material Numbers to a Serialized table. The "Y" or "NO" is almost redundant if I could just specify specific numbers as those being serialized.

    Thanks for your help guys!
