Excel can not open file.....

Hello all, I have a question. Recently I had to retrieve all my documents form a data back-up site since my hard drive crashed. I downloaded my documents but now when I try to open my excel docs I keep getting the following error message: "Excel can not open the file xxxxxx because the file format or file extension is not valid. Verify the file has not been corrupted and that the file extea matches the format file"

I have no clue what to look for to resolve this issue. The file type is: xlsx file.

extention looks right. can up upload 1 of them (that contains no sensitive data)?

Hello FDibbins, I am unable to copy the file. Now it tells me I don't have the proper permissions (even though I am even set up as an administrator). I just keep getting those error messages.
