    Change default autofill settings?

Is there a way to change the default autofill so that it always copies the number that's there, rather than increases the number?

So if I have Unit 2, and I autofill the columns below it, I want it to say "Unit 2 Unit 2 Unit 2 Unit 2..." rather than "Unit 2 Unit 3 Unit 4 Unit 5..."

I DO KNOW that you can

    a) hold control while filling, or

    b) click the icon after filling and change to "copy cells," or

    c) type the desired text in two rows, highlight both, and autofill.

However, my girlfriend has issues typing too much in one day, and all of the above require a few extra keystrokes. And she has to do this a LOT. So it would be really nice if there was a setting so that it automatically copied every time, without her having to do anything about it.

Oddly enough, she says that in Google Docs, the default setting is what we want.

    Thanks.

Can't you just copy, select the cells to copy to and paste?

If there are a lot of cells to copy to type the range in the name box.

Hi averysgore and welcome to the forum,

It looks like there is a check box in the "Options" that will allow you to do what you want. Read:

That check box turns off the autofill entirely. As in, if you mouse over the lower right corner, nothing happens. Thanks for the link, but my question is still open.

Did you try other "AutoFill" check boxes in the Options Dialog? There are more than one there.

Are there? All I see is the one that says "Enable fill handle and cell drag-and-drop." This is in File -> Options -> Advanced.
