Help! Conditional formatting on whole row to strikethrough row

Hi all! I'm very new to this forum and hope someone can help.

I've been playing with this all morning and just can't get the final piece of conditional formatting together! Brain is failing...

I have a task list for work and I would like the whole row striked-through if any date (or any content) is entered into the "completed" column (column E). This will mean that once I have entered a date to state when I completed a task it will strike off my list.

It would also be great that if the task is completed (struck through) the red formatting will unhighlight (is this a new word?!). No worries if this bit is not possible though!

I've attached a basic task list which I hope will help.

i have change the formulas to use today() instead of Now()
today() just looks at the date - whereas now() looks at the time
also changed to a formula so that if E6 must = blank to fill with colour
also now if E6 is not a blank - you get a strike through font

Oh no etaf!

I broke it!

I added one final condition to highlight cells in a diff colour that are due today, but now the strikethrough still happens but it doesn't take the colour away!

Is it something to do with the order?

change the new rule to use a formula
=AND(D1=TODAY(), E1="")
applied to the column
