Which function to use to find text

I need to see if there is text in cell a1. If so, than copy this text to cell d1. After this is done, then delete the cells in column d that do not contain any text. (Isblank possibly????) I've used Excel for many years, and used functions for many years also, but it's been about 10 years since I've used Excel for anything this complicated and can't remember what function to use for something like this. I made up a workbook that contains about 7000 formulas in 10 worksheets and it'll take me a little while to add in all of the rest of them that are needed. I have 8 worksheets that I need to use this function in. Thanks to everyone that responds.

To change a Title on your post, click EDIT then Go Advanced and change your title, if 2 days have passed ask a moderator to do it for you. I suggest something like "Check cell for content and copy/delete"

I changed the title, but it was what I was looking for. So now what do you want me to put in there?
