Formula Based Conditional formatting with Absolute referencing while adding column and row

Hi there,

im pretty confused while i tried to maintain an absolute cell referencing conditional formatting with multiple cell. I should maintain the same conditional formatting through out the sheet while adding more columns to it.

Please see the attachment.

Regards, and thanks in advance.

Hi not entirely sure what the goal is for the conditional formatting but when you construct a rule you build the formula in reference to the active cell (the one showing in the name box just below the ribbon on the left side of the screen). You would use absoluate and relative references just as you would in any formula. Not sure that helps.

I too, am not completely sure what you want

However, to apply CF to a cell (or range of cells) based on the contents of another cell, try this...

1. highlight the range you want to apply the conditional formatting to (J5:M12?)
2. on the home tab, styles, select CF
3. select new rule, select use formula
4. enter ==R5<0 format fill as needed
1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)
2. If your question is resolved, mark it SOLVED using the thread tools
3. Click on the star if you think someone helped you
