Linking word document file name with excel cell?

Hi Is there any way to link file name with the excel cell?
I have a procedures that were created in word , when procedure is amended then version number will change as well . I have all procedures listed in my training matrix and would like to have something that would inform me when the procedure version is changed this would be done in the footer of the procedure as well as the file name like for example : WETRS2245 v5 Operating Bagger.docx
Then I could use the conditional formatting to format all cells containing dates in the entire column, this would mean that everyone needs to be retrained as the procedure has been amended, this is easy part and I can handle it my self the problem I have is how do I extract that file name from the word document? It would have to be dynamic? so that every change in file name would be reflected in excel cell.

This is driving me nuts so I would appreciate your help in this matter as this would make my life much easier.
    Meybe diferent approach?
    Thank you.
    Dan
