    you could try using the INDIRECT command, that will replace the bolded part and another cell with the TODAY() command so it can draw reference

    I never got the INDIRECT command to work for me this way though, hopefully someone with better knowledge can help

    Using INDIRECT would require that the linked file be open. This is usually not desirable specially if linking to many files.

    There is a free add-in called Morefunc.xll that has a function called INDIRECT.EXT that works just like the built-in INDIRECT function except that the linked files do not need to be open. That might work.
