    can't write proper if statement

I can't seem to get the formula right.

    It is a salesperson bonus

I have the over margin dollars in J7. (this could be a negitave number)

I wanted to write a formula using J7 number.

    IF J7 is less than 0 = 0
IF J7 is greater than 0 but less than 50,000 they get 7.5% commission of J7
IF J7 is greater than 50,000 they get 7.5 % of the first 50,000 and 5% of the amount over 50,000

    Thanks for any help

    Re: Formula Help

you have two posts here and you also need to change the title to conform to the rules here

I can then provide an answer- which would be a IF formula or lookup

    see here http://www.excelforum.com/forum-rule...rum-rules.html
    1. Use concise, accurate thread titles. Your post title should describe your problem, not your anticipated solution. Use terms appropriate to a Google search. Poor thread titles, like Please Help, Urgent, Need Help, Formula Problem, Code Problem, and Need Advice will be addressed according to the OP's experience in the forum: If you have less than 10 posts, expect (and respond to) a request to change your thread title. If you have 10 or more posts, expect your post to be locked, so you can start a new thread with an appropriate title.

To change the title of the thread, click EDIT on the original post, then click the Go Advanced button, then change the title. If two or more days have passed, the EDIT button will not appear, and you need to ask a moderator to change the title.

    Re: Formula Help

    Here!

    =IF(J7=0,0,IF(AND(J7>0,J7<50000),J7*7.5%,IF(J7>=50000,(50000)*7.5%+(J7-50000)*5%,"")))

    Re: Formula Help

Sorry for the wrong info posted. I thought I posted it in the wrong spot in general vs formulas. I appreciate the help though! I will get it right next time.

Thanks all for the help, it really helped me out.

    Re: Formula Help

you can edit the thread and correct this one now as posted

also you said J7 could be negative - so you may need to change the formula to accommodate the negative and return a zero, and you wont need the 2nd IF, just the formula
