Question Conditional Formating > Traffic Light System for Date Ranges PLS HELP

    Hi Members
I have been browsing and trialing for days!! I'm at wits end pls help me

I'm trying to setup a traffic light system within an excel spreadsheet to show employees training status.

The status should always be based on the date the spreadsheet is opened, accordingly the status may change from time to time.

    Example:
A First Aid Certificate is valid for two years and say I got trained today 10/02/2014 (dd/mm/yyyy)

The traffic lights i would love
    1. The date reaches expiry i.e. 10/02/2016 the cell turns RED
    2. The 30 days before expiry i.e between 11/01/2016 and 09/02/2016 the cell turns ORANGE
    3. Between 10/02/2014 and 10/01/2016 the cell stays GREEN

    Any help greatly appreciated!!!

    Test.xlsx

Thanks for your help Andy. I do appreciate it greatly!
Your example works but only if I enter the expiry date (see attachment)

Can the CF be based on the actual training date, not the expiry date? As the spreadsheet will only contained a date trained cell.

Yes it can quite easily ... But I was thinking that different quals have different expiry times and you might want the extra versatility.
The expiry date is calculated (rather than entered) based on the valid qualification period.
If every qualification has the same expiry period (one year/two years etc) then there is no need for an expiry column and we can amend everything to two years
