    Question Drop down menu,s on Excel

    Hi All

    I am creating a new speadsheet for use in my work and I am trying to set up drop down lists in each column showing a list where one click will enter the required data from that list into the cell

    I have created the lists to go into these drop down menu's on a second page of the workbook and need help with getting them onto the main sheet as drop down menu's

    Basically one column is drivers names the next is vehicle registrations and so one.

    Can anyone help me out here please....

    Basically, you want a data validation dropdown (Data>Validation).

    I assume that once the driver is picked, the vehicle registration can be deduced from trhat, if so, you can use VLOOKUP, for example =VLOOKUP(A2,Sheet2!A1:F20,2,FALSE), which assumes your dropdown is in A2, the list has driver in column A, vehicle in column B (the 2 in the VLOOKUP).

    Hya Bob I tried that and it didnt work perhaps I should explain more about the spreadsheet functions

    I have 11 columns (A2) Drivers (B2) Vehicles (manual allocation) (C2) Start Times -- D2,E2,F2,autosum total into G2 -- H2,I2,J2,K2 also have drop down menu,s.
    The list info is on the same page now but off to the side of the spreadsheet

    I am trying to get the List Info into the drop down boxes to create a one click entry

    The page itself allows 40 entries down the page so each one will also be a one click function

    Hard to gauge what the thing really looks like just from a description mate. Can you post the workbook, with a couple of entriues manually loaded with what you want to see?

    Hi Shrekster;

    I use this type of input often. FYI, it doesn't matter where your table are. I always put them on a separate sheet & name the sheet "Tables".

    So, first question. Have you defined your tables? In other words, have you told Excel where the table is located and what the table range is (ie: table is located on Sheet B and has a range of A2:A15, This assumes A1 contains the table's title.). And, have you given each table you want to use as a drop down a specific name?

    That would be step one.

    Forgive me if I'm covering data you're already aware of but, from your posts, I wasn't sure if this step was completed.

    Good Luck!
