Version : MS Excel 2010
Please refer the attachment file <Countif for a No. of days in a month.xlsx>.
I want to calculate the No. of Entries in the given month.
In the attchment i want to populate the yellow cells by formulas.

Formula:
=SUMPRODUCT((MONTH($B$3:$B$30)=MONTH(E3))*(YEAR($B$3:$B$30)=YEAR(E3)))

you need to insert a column then put formula as per the attached sheet.

if any cell in date column would blank then count would come 3 so that case wrong count would occur .........
