Hi angel1 and welcome to the forum.
To summarize your data by month and year can be dome using formulas such as:
SUM, SUMIF, SUMIFFS, COUNT, COUNTIF, COUNTIFS, SUMPORDUCT, AVERAGE, AVERAGEIF and few more.
If you have a question, I would suggest to upload a sample workbook with your data and we will try to figure out the best solution to your problem.

Thankyou for your reply AlKey! i'm not sure how to upload my workbook? :/
Depends on the nature of the data. If you were able to attach a sample or just create one, the picture would be clearer.
Assuming you have dates associates with whatever your're summarizing, you could use SUMIF(S) or SUMPRODUCT.
