Unable to Paste into Formula Bar

    Hi Forum,

Sometimes I can Paste into the Formula Bar and sometimes it just doesn't work. Why is this?

If I have some text in one cell and want to add something to the end of the text I can copy the text from another spreadsheet or from Word, select the cell containing the first lot of text, click into the Formula Bar and Ctrl+V and the desired result is achieved.

However, If the text I want to add is in the same spreadsheet and I copy it and try to add it by Pasting into the Formula Bar nothing happens. Same if I try to paste directly into the cell containing the first lot of text. Why does Excel not allow this?

Is there a way to copy text from one cell of a spreadsheet and add it to text in another cell in the same spreadsheet?

    Thanks very much

    Dave

While Copying the Text Press F2 and Select & Copy the Data or Text from Formula Bar or from Cell and Paste it where ever you want

Re: Unable to Paste into Formula Bar

You cannot copy a cell, and then paste that to the formula bar, you have to edit the cell, highlight the parts you want (or all of it), and then paste that to the formula bar. When you have done that from work, you are copying a string and pasting the string into the formula bar.

    Hope that helps?

Re: Unable to Paste into Formula Bar

Are you right clicking the cell and selecting copy from the popup menu or, are you double clicking the cell and highlighting then right clicking to choose copy, pressing Esc and then pasting?

Re: Unable to Paste into Formula Bar

You have to copy from the Formula bar not from the cell. Then you can paste it into formula bar for another cell.
