Formula to calculate cost based on increasing scale

    Hi

I need to formula to calculate the cost of a job, based on the number of units.

The cost is $40 for the first 500, then $5 extra for each 500 thereafter. Summary of costs are below.

    From To Cost
    0 500 $40.00
    501 1000 $45.00
    1001 1500 $50.00
    1501 2000 $55.00
    2001 2500 $60.00
    2501 3000 $65.00
    3001 3500 $70.00
    3501 4000 $75.00
    4001 4500 $80.00
    4501 5000 $85.00
    5001 5500 $90.00
    5501 6000 $95.00
    6001 6500 $100.00
    6501 7000 $105.00
    7001 7500 $110.00
    7501 8000 $115.00
    8001 8500 $120.00
    8501 9000 $125.00
    9001 9500 $130.00
    and so on......

Example of table where I'm trying to calculate costs is below:

    A B
    1 Units Cost
    2 331
    3 200
    4 989
    5 3505

    7 150
    8 2331
    9 22305

Thank you for the attachment. I can now see it. However, when I go to download it, I keep getting a screen asking me to logon (even though I'm already logged in with my registered details). See error below:

You are not logged in. Fill in the form at the bottom of this page and try again.
You may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.

Even if I try logging in again, it still comes up with the same error message. Any ideas on how I can download/access the file? Maybe I don't have permission to download files from the forum?

Re: Formula to calculate cost based on increasing scale

    Still no luck :-(

I have tried F5/refresh, logging out and back in, different browsers and am still unable to download either file from the above posts. Perhaps someone can email me the files? Or post the formula?

I have been able to download both the files now. If I use right-mouse-click, then Save Link Aa, it allows me to save the files. As opposed to using the "Download" links

    Hi Raman

Thankyou for the spreadsheet. Are there any speed or other advantages for using Model 1 vs Model 2 vs Model 3 formulas?

Re: Formula to calculate cost based on increasing scale

Model2 is preferable. It is little faster than Model1.

    My 2nd choice is Model3
