    Identify Maker Of Macro

    Good afternoon,

I have a call center spreadsheet that uses an Erlang calculation with an Erlang.xla macro. We have the add-in, however it only works with one computer. We have the following lead expressions that do not appear to be native to Excel:

    =FC_decomp(data, targetcell, CycleSize)
    =FC_Winters(Data, cell, Cyclesize, starttrend, alpha)
    =Agents(Variables!$H$5,Variables!$I$5,$C23*(VLOOKUP($B23,Variables!$M$26:$BI$34,E$22,FALSE)),Variables!$J$11),
    =(Erlang.xla!agentsServiceLevelErlangC(Variables!$H$3,(($C4*(VLOOKUP($B4,Variables!$M$3:$BI$10,Agents!BF$3,FALSE)))/1800),BF20,Variables!$I$3))*(1+Variables!$H$13),
    =(FC_EXPSMO(C3:C7,Variables!$F$3))

I have contacted four companies (which have software loaded on the computer), none of which claim ownership of these functions. Does anyone have any ideas on how to track down this info?

    Thanks!

Where did you get the file from?

    Hi Norie,

The file was created by a former employee.

    Thanks for asking,

Is there any way you can ask the former employee?

I've tried to find something about these functions but with no joy.

    What do they actually do?

    Re: Identify Maker Of Macro

    Hi Norie,

Call centers or traffic signal centers typically rely on these calculations for queing the traffic; be it the number of calls coming in or the number of cars on the street. Based on information provided, it helps to calculate the number of people needed in the call center to answer incoming calls.

This function normally isn't handled in Excel, and it has to be completed in a macro or VBA script. So, with this spreadsheet, whe have the Erlang.xla file and an Erlang.dll file installed on that computer. We mimicked the installation in two other computers and have no joy, so I'm pretty certain there is a licensing issue (Windows OS and Excel OS *I meant version, not Excel OS* were matched).

We'll have to see about reaching the former employee. I'm not certain what answers we'll get. I'm working behind him and am willing to redo this, but I need to see under the hood to know what's being processed where.

    Thanks for asking!

Could the former employee have created these functions themselves?

That's a possibility, we'll have to try and check that avenue.

    Thanks for replying!

    Hi, Shg -

Sorry for the late reply. I had no idea there was a reply to my post.

I try to access the VBA module, however it is password protected.

    Thanks for asking!

If you put FC_decomp in the name box (left side of formula bar) and press Enter does anything happen?

    thanks!

That helped with all but one function. It looks like a Poisson calculation, so I can go forward with reconstruction. By the way, I am unable to log into the forum from my work PC and was able to access via android app... weird!
