    Cannot drag formulas

Here is the situation. Excel 2010. Drag formulas is turned on. Autocalculate is turned on. I have 23 rows of numbers I wish to multiple against one cell. Initial cell as the formula: cell E2 = D2*E1 the next cell should be cell E3=D3*E1. But when dragging it simply copies the formula in cell E2. the same happens when I drag across the cells to copy the formula in cells E3-E5 where the formulas should be D2*F1 through D2*H1

    Re: Cannot drag formulas

you need to use $ to hold absolute references

    = D2*$E$1

    = $D$2*F1
