Using the Paste Special - Divide Function, DO NOT want to copy formatting

For example, I have a set of numbers in dollars, and I want to convert to thousands of dollars. Used to write 1000 off to the side, copy it, then paste special - divide and we're good to go. Office recently updated our versions of excel, and now this copies the formatting of the source cell (1000 in this example) to all of the destination cells. Any way to keep the destination formatting here?

    Hi,

I don't use Excel 2013 (I have 2010 and 2007), but try using the divide option, but selecting paste values only, rather than paste all.

    Hope this helps

Wouldn't that paste the values over what I just divided? (Trying to think of how that formula would work )

No that will divide by 1000, but keep the formatting of the destination cells.

So if cells A1:A10 (destination cells) were black and non-bold, and cell B1 was your "1000" cell, and it was red and bold, then copying B1, paste-special (values only, divide, range A1:A10) will result in cells A1:A10 being divided by 1000 but remaining black and non-bold.

Is this the effect that you were after?

I've got Excel 2012 and what you describe happens for me too, unless I select Values instead of the default All option.
