Auto format for specific values in cells

Hello, is it possible to create a formula that will highlight specific values in cells different colors? Example, I have a spreadsheet that has values CANCELLED, COMPLETED, IN PROGRESS, BLOWOUT, in various cells within a column. If the value = CANCELLED, I want that cell to highlight yellow, if the value = COMPLETED, I want that cell to auto highlight green, etc. Is this even possible, and if so, what would the formula be for this?

Thank you in advance for your help.

Perhaps, conditional formatting?

Hi and welcome to the forum

You can do this with Conditional Formatting, as suggested.
1. highlight the range you want to apply the conditional formatting to
2. on the home tab, styles, select CF
3. select new rule, select "format cells that contain"
4. on the "format only cells with" dropdown, select "specific text"
enter the text for 1 rule select the formatting required, and then repeat this for the other words
1. Use code tags for VBA.
Your Code
(or use the # button)
2. If your question is resolved, mark it SOLVED using the thread tools
