Return a valuein one cell dependant on value of another

OK, I'm not very good at Excel but I'm sure this will be easy for you guys to work out.

I need cell C5 to display a result dependant on the value of cell B5.

    If B5 is between 1 and 23, I need 1.99 in cell C5

    If B5 is between 24 and 47, I need 1.90 in cell C5

    If B5 is between 48 and 143, I need 1.79 in cell C5

    If B5 is 144 or above, I need 1.62 in cell C5

    Here is another option:

    Formula: copy to clipboard

    Format for 2 decimal places.

Thanks for that. I tried that but it always shows 1.62 in C5, no matter what figure I put in B5

This one doesn't work either. It returns a value of #N/A

Then I'm guessing that B5 is formatted as text.

I'm guessing the same thing. I have both formulae in adjacent cells and they work flawlessly.
