What's the reason for that, since I would advice you to use pivot tables for that kind of work.

They are extreme powerfull and are designed for this kind of work.

So what is the reason not using pivot tables?
Notice my main language is not English.

I appreciate it, if you reply on my solution.

Re: Formula to calculate monthly, quarterly and annual amounts - categorize

Is this "one off" set of data or can they change?
If one of you need to show how would you like to see the output.
If the data will change(categories, product, rep) Pivots would be a better alternative as they will take into account new entries.
Yes you can extact unique item via formula but this will involve futher manipulation.

Re: Formula to calculate monthly, quarterly and annual amounts - categorize

The data will be captured daily per month. I want to group the data together as per my excel example attached per month per quarter per year. As soon as I can group the totals as per the example then I want to display the information as graphs on a plasma screen. My challenge is to calculate / group the totals as per the captured data. Help with the formulas will be appreciated, if someone can assist me with one then hopefully I will get the others to word.

See the green cells for the result.

    area / quartal / values

    It's made with sumproductformula.

The results of the pivot table are on the left side.

You know the sumproduct formula and you can expand it to your needs?
