    Question Highlight a row if conditional formatting is used in cell

    Hi,

    I have a rota system spreadsheet, with dates and shifts ascending. I have input a conditional format into the cells with the date so it highlights todays cell. I would like it to highlight the whole row, not just the date cell.

    So to put my question simple, is there a formula that highlights a row if the date cell is highlighted (due to the conditional formatting)?

    Thanks guys

    Anthony

    Just create an extra CF rule for the whole row. Say the cell with the date is C5 and let's call your CF formula "formula". Then select the whole 5th row and set a CF rule saying =$C$5=formula
    When I say semicolon, u say comma!

    that's the formula that you have used for the CF of only the cell with the date

    if you could upload your file, i could explain better

    Ok so if you want this for row 5 and lower, select those rows. Then set Conditional Formatting with the following formula:
    =$B5=TODAY()
    And then of couse set the filling colour

    You could make a "calculations section" with the current formula and have the conditional formatting for the entire row highlight only if the date in the formula and the date in a specific cell in which the date is are the same. I've done this technique before and it worked great for me!

    The range for CF should be: $A$5:$J$250

    Do you want to improve the CF or something else in the file? Anything in particular?

    Edit: I saw you just marked the thread as solved, so if you need more help unmark it or maybe start another thread, since it is a new topic. Thnx for the rep btw

    You do need to be more specific; I'm not gonna start just redesigning your whole file...

    Sorry I wouldn't know what to improve. You are the one who knows what the exact purpose of the file is. I can't just say "ditch that column" or "use different data" without knowing what the purpose of it all is.

    Once again, if you have any specific questions I can try to help you. But just checking your whole file for any improvements takes too much time for a voluntairy service to an unknown person, in my opinion.
