    Vlookup, Count Blank?

Hi All, new to the forum and after scanning several threads, I am fairly certain this question hasn't been asked but I apologize if it already has.

What I am trying to do is to find a formula/function combination that will be entered into a cell on one workbook and scan another workbook for the data I need.

The formula I need will be able to scan the range from the other workbook and match a given date in Column A, and then for all rows where that date appears, count the number where there is also a blank cell in another column. Thanks in advance for your help!

Sounds more like you need COUNTIFS rather than VLOOKUP and/or COUNTBLANK

Thanks TMS. I first thought of COUNTIF, but to be honest I am fairly new to using formulas and functions more complex than average, sum, sumif etc and I was not aware there was a COUNTIFS. I plugged in =COUNTIFS(A:A,A2,C:C,"") and bam, that's the solution. Thanks!
