    Post Converting units

    Good afternoon everybody.

My problem is, that I already have a LOT of data in this format.

    6'11"
    6'1"

    and so on...

This of course are lenghts and I can not change the format but only do the conversion directly, I have been trying to use the convert formula, and some IF conditionants but no luck, could anyone help me out with this?

I searched here on the forum for some help but I found very lenghty formulas.

I need by the way convert this into meters.

Any help would be really appreciated.

    Thanks

    Re: Converting units

Try this one, no helper columns is required

    =CONVERT(LEFT(A2,FIND("'",A2)-1)*12+SUBSTITUTE(MID(A2,FIND("'",A2)+1,9),"""",),"in","m")
