=Sumif Query

Hi,
I hope someone can help

Im trying to take the first alpha letter of the cell in column B and then total up whats in column C
i.e. the total for Any Cell that contains A would be 1035.

Example attached of what i need to total up.

I am really struggling with this. Is anyone able to help?
