Long Numbers Default to E+ Format

I keep track of Postal Service tracking numbers (22 digits) and every time I copy and paste one it defaults to something like 9.26129E+21

Once the E+ format is there, you can reformat that cell from General to text, but the E+ display does not change back to the 22 digits. I have tried pre-formatting a cell and copying and pasting the long number into it, but the E+ conversion still happens. I have introduced an asterisk (*) at the end and with copy and paste it will transfer all characters, but that is an extra step. If I pre-format the cell as Text and hand jam the 22 digits in there, it will display/hold all the numbers. I would rather just copy and paste to avoid errors. Is there an easier way to solve this? I am using Excel 2010
