Automatic updating of a time bank help

Well I worked out the first part of my problem. I can get the hours to display a sum of my carry over (what I have to start with) with what I have used subtracted from it. Now I just need help figuring out a formula to automatically add in hours earned. Anyone have any ideas?

Sounds like you need to calculate the integer number of 2week periods between today and some start date.

=INT((TODAY()-A1)/14)

where A1 holds the start date

The result (say 67 or 29 or 153 or) would be multiplied by the number of hours (8.308 or 11.0756) per period

I think you are on the right path but I need some help still. I plugged in your formula and put in the current pay period start date of 7-21-13. The hours updated correctly, but when I advance the system time instead of adding 8.308 hours it subtracts the time. I attached the current spreadsheet with your formula in cell K29.

Not sure I follow what you are saying. Can you give me an example?

1) Cell K31 should be =K3*K29

2) To make it easier to test, create a helper cell, (say C1) to hold "today's date" that you can manipulate manually all you want. Later make that cell =TODAY()

3) When adding two numbers just use =A1+A2 (no need for SUM(A1, A2)

4) I created a "Gross" and "Net" calculation for vacation.

Mike you are awesome! This is what I have been trying to do! Now if there was only a way to subtract hours used from the cells in B25 through B49 as that date comes up instead of all at once this would be perfect, but it will do what I need it to do.Again thank you, I'm going to go to bed because I'm getting cross eyed looking at spreadsheets but I'll finish this tomorrow and make it all pretty.
