I have searched and searched and cant find what im looking for. I will try and explain my problem. I own a company that does residential and commercial window tinting. For estimates we take length and width measurements for window size then calculate sqft for a price. when I spec out the job for inventory i will take the size of the window and see if the length or width is closest to a roll width so there is little waste. Rolls come in 36", 48" 60" and 72" I.e. 34x49 i would use a 36" roll. If its 47x55, 48" roll. Its tricky if i see (2) 28x100 i will split a 60" roll.
excel will see this
film type, length, width, dropdown menu based off different sizes of "film type"
(Slate 20, 50 , 45 , Slate 20 36"
Formula would pick roll length based off available stock on different page in workbook, then a series of if thens
if Slate 20 length is < than 60" but greater that the difference that the width is < than 48 and so on.
Im sure something like this is workable but i didnt go to MIT and I can visualize the steps but have a hard time getting started. Its just too many if thens. Am i stretching this too far?
